For heavier and brighter-toned instruments (electric guitars) with ash or alder bodies. Works well with maple or rosewood fingerboards.

This pickup combines the same coil design as the SSL-5, with hand ground rod Alnico 5 magnets of equal length raised above the flatwork. The flat magnet pattern provides the balanced field necessary for an even response using today's strings (unwound "G") and flatter neck radii. The more even output response is noticed when bending strings. Like the SSL-5, the pickup rocks hard and is powerful and present in tone. Perfect for distorted sounds. White cover included. Comes with a single conductor cable with PVC coating.

(Many players use an SSL-6 in the bridge position with vintage output pickups, like SSL-2, in the neck and middle for tonal versatility.)
